God works for the good of those who love him (Christine Kelly)

Romans 8:28 – And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.

This verse is about God’s goodness and our confidence that His plan will work out as He sees fit. An example of this is in Genesis 37, which tells us the story of Joseph (that’s the man with the special coat!). In this chapter, Joseph was sold into slavery by jealous brothers, but he rose to a position of responsibility. Then he got unjustly imprisoned and forgotten about. But when all seemed lost, God gifted him the ability to interpret dreams and through that he was once again raised to a place of honour and power. Throughout his life, he trusted God. In the end, God brought things to a wonderful life-affirming conclusion. God blessed his entire family.

If we look back at our lives we will see situations that have turned out better than we thought they would, because God had it all in hand, even though we may not have realised it at the time.  In Philippians 4:12 Paul says, ‘I have learned to live through any kind of situation.’ We can learn this too once we accept that God is in it with us.

Ephesians 3:20 says, ‘With God’s power working in us, He can do much more than anything we can ask of Him.’ Romans 8:35-39 says, ‘It doesn’t matter who or what attempts to thwart (derail) God’s plan, no one and nothing can.’  God’s plan will not be thwarted (derailed). When we trust God, we can be sure that He is active and powerful on our behalf.

Finally, Isaiah 46:10 says, ‘I make known the end from the beginning, from the ancient times, what is still to come, my purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.’  God can turn any situation around and bring good out of it. When we are going through it we do not know how that could be, until later.

Nothing can or will de-rail God.
When we trust God, we can be sure that He acts on our behalf.
