there must be more (by Paul saxton)

Have you ever looked at your life and thought "There must be more than this"?  I know I have. Many times. It wasn't until I decided to follow Jesus at the age of 19 that I discovered how it felt to have purpose, passion and a direction in life.

God knows us by name, he knows the number of hairs on our heads, he tells us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. He was prepared to sacrifice His life in order that I could have mine...it's truly incredible. And yet, despite knowing these amazing truths, I've still found myself feeling unfulfilled as a Christian at times.

Why?  Has God changed?  Has He given up on me? Is the Christian life really that boring?

The answer is no! The problem lies with me, not God. When I stop seeking God with all my heart, the problem starts. I begin to believe I'm not good enough, or that the dreams God has put within me are unreachable. When I stop seeking God, when I let fear into my heart, when I decide not to step out in faith, that is when my Christian life becomes unfulfilled. God's peace comes when we give 100%. Nothing less.

But it's not enough just to dream big for God - we have to seek Him; we have to pursue Him with everything we have. Jesus said 'Seek first the kingdom of God,' and in the book of Jeremiah, God says 'seek me and you will find me when you seek me with all of your heart.'

Do you see the message in the scriptures? You find God when you seek him with all your heart. And the flip-side of that coin is that if you seek Him halfheartedly, you may not find him.

When we pursue God and intentionally deepen our relationship with him, He drives out fear, sets in motion the dreams He has given us, and remains faithful to the end. Of course, there are times of hardship on the journey - God asked huge things of Moses, and Moses was frequently afraid and disillusioned, but he pressed through the times of fear and disillusionment with a willing and obedient heart. We must be willing to do the same.

As Christians, our spiritual fulfilment is in our own hands - so don't be unfulfilled! God has big dreams that he wants to give to you. He has a purpose that He wants to pass on to you!

Don't let fear stand in the way.

Don't let halfheartedness stand in the way.

Don't let disobedience stand in the way.

Seek God with all you have, step out into all that He has for you, and God will take the wheel of your life. You can't imagine the ride he wants to take you on.
